The Premier League has seen some of the greatest teams to ever grace the beautiful game. From Manchester United's treble-winning side to Arsenal's "Invincibles", the English top flight has featured some incredible teams over the years. We’ve taken a trip down memory lane to look at five of the best Premier League teams from the last 30 years.
Manchester United (1998/1999)
Manchester United's treble-winning side of 1998/1999 is widely regarded as one of the best Premier League teams ever. Led by legendary manager Alex Ferguson and featuring the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Roy Keane, United won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League in the same season, finishing the historic treble with their unbelievable injury time comeback against Bayern Munich. They are still the only team in England to ever achieve the treble.
Arsenal's "Invincibles" side of 2003/2004 went an entire Premier League season without losing a game. Managed by Arsene Wenger, led by star striker Thierry Henry and backed up by the likes of Robert Pires, Patrick Vieira, and Dennis Bergkamp, Arsenal won the Premier League with 26 wins and 12 draws, finishing the season with 90 points. The Gunners are still the only team in Premier League history to remain unbeaten for a full season.
Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in 2004/2005 were one of the most dominant Premier League teams in history. Chelsea only conceded 15 goals in the entire season and won the league with a record-breaking 95 points. Led by the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba, Chelsea were a force to be reckoned, winning their first league title in 50 years.
Manchester City (2017/2018)
Manchester City's 2017/2018 side was one of the most attacking teams in Premier League history. Pep Guardiola's side won the Premier League with a record-breaking 100 points and scored 106 goals in the process, easing past all challengers. Led by stars Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero, City were a joy to watch and took the English game to new levels in terms of consistency and points achieved.
Liverpool's 2019/2020 side is the most recent in this list, and for very good reason. Jurgen Klopp's side won the Premier League with seven games to spare, finishing the season with an amazing 99 points. Led by the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool were simply unstoppable in claiming their first league title in 30 years.
The Premier League has seen some incredible teams over the years, but these five teams stand out as some of the best ever. Whether it's United's treble-winning side, Arsenal's "Invincibles", or City's attacking force, these teams will go down in history as some of the greatest Premier League teams of all time.
